Professor Anne Piehl speaks at Democratic National Convention
Rutgers University economist and criminal justice expert was a lead speaker at a special symposium held on July 26th in Philadelphia at the Democratic National Convention.
Professor Piehl is a nationally prominent expert on prison reform and the criminal justice system. On a seemingly weekly basis demonstrations and protests around the country are being held about the nation's changing policies and procedures to address the challenges facing our criminal justice system. Possible policy changes could involve reforming mandatory minimum sentences and reducing pretrial incarceration to creating diversion programs and addressing racial disparities. It is encouraging news to hear that policy-makers are listening to experts like Professor Piehl as they contemplate addressing the challenges.
