The new program in Data Science at Rutgers, jointly administered by the Departments of Computer Science and Statistics, but broadly cross-disciplinary in structure, is an option for economics students to consider.
Of particular interest is the BS in Data Science with an Economics track, as this track includes the core of the economics major.
In completing this major students will have also fulfilled the requirements for the Minor in Quantitative Economics.
To instead complete the Major in Economics, a student only needs to take four more economics electives beyond those involved in the Data Science BS, Economics track. These electives need not be Data Science-related.
International students seeking an officially designated STEM degree that entitles them to Optional Practical Training will also find this major option useful.
